Hacking An Exception Occurred ARM 9 (Data Abort)

Problem: Console boots to ARM9 Data Abort Error. This happens with and without the microsd card inserted.

Model: New Nintendo 3ds XL (USA)

Current OFW: This console was given to me in this condition, so my information is limited. What I do know is that this was loaded with CFW sometime last year with boot9strap.

Attempted fixes: I followed TurdPooCharger's post -

1. SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7. Extract the SafeB9SInstaller.firm from the ZIP and rename as boot.firm.
   • Put this on the root of the SD card.
2. Luma3DS v7.0.5. Extract arm9loaderhax.bin from the ZIP and put it on the root of the SD card.
3. Insert the SD card into your 3DS, turn on the system, and hold the (SELECT) button.

If the 3DS boots, tell us whether you see Luma3DS v7.0.5 configuration or SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7 on the bottom screen.

Upon testing the sd card first with h2testw and verifying without errors, the 3ds boots to the safe b9sinstaller.

I also attempted the ctrtransfer without success using the 3ds guide site with the usa file

Current console functions: I can still boot to luma3ds by holding select, and I can still access GodMode9 by holding start. The 3ds cannot enter the recovery menu using the L+R+UP combo.

I believe the console previously had the agb firm patch and the cfw guide was done using 3ds guide

I searched this forum and google and was able to find similar errors, but with different hex values.

With gm9, go to CTRnand /private/movable.sed and check CMAC, and fix it if it fails verification.

Upon checking the Drive [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND I see the following directories and files:

dbs [dir]
rw [dir]
title [dir]
__journal.nn_ [file]
boot.firm [file]

I don't see a private folder in there. Thank you for the help.

You certainly need it for the system to boot. You're also missing other folders.

Check if your SD card is fake, faulty, or dying.

1. Copy everything off the SD card to a computer.
2. Quadruple reformat.
3. Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw. Do not skip.
