So I picked up a New 3Ds today, and it's on 11.1.0-34.

Is there a way I could still install homebrew on it?

Should I bring it back?

If you want free games and cfw, I'd say return it and get a different one, until it's under or on 10.7. All dsiware games you COULD use are taken down, and if you are on 10.7 or below you can install a9lh easy peasy.

Don't really care about free games, Id rather support the developers :), But I may return it, because I would really enjoy using a CFW

Yeah, if you want a cfw, like Luma3DS, basically do what I said. Way easier and you don't need to wait for future exploits.

"Am I screwed?"
Yes.

No, not really, lol... but kinda. You can get homebrew easily, but to run CFW you need to downgrade, as already said. On system versions on or above 11.0 you either need a 2nd 3ds that has already been hacked to run CFW, or you need to own a legit eShop download of one of four DSiWare games, all of which have been pulled off the shop already. It's possible fasthax could work on more games once its ready, much like the system transfer method, but I simply don't know. I would assume not. Beyond these, the only other option would be a hardmod. If you can find a system on version 10.x or lower, that would be ideal.

Well, I bought one in July and it was on 10.7, I don't know exactly but there is a serial number trick you can do, tells you what firmware...probably google it. Which 3ds did you buy and from where

Any tips on finding a 3Ds on that version?
Either Ebay (and pay some massive markup price) or scout stores that aren't known for selling 3DS'. I got my 10.7 one at microcenter in November this year. If it's a store that has them on the shelf or something you may be able to check serial numbers to determine what version it may have

Thanks guys, you guys are all cool cats! I may just keep this 3DS, and give it to my mom or something. What are some cool things you can do with homebrew?
