I don't care about the technical bits (much...).
All I see is that someone owes this guy $20 for fixing BeUp.
Its an AWESOME tutorial and thats that.

He hasn't "fixed" BeUp. He is just using a gateway server and IRC client to achieve almost the same thing. I doubt it will have all of the functionality of BeUp such as display pictures.

You are right. It doesn't have display pictures, but hey, it's better then the non-working Beup client you have on your MicroSD card.

Get over it, at least it works!

no it's beyond easy to fix beup. Add like five lines lol, that's if we know the address of the MS serv.

It would be more sensible to make Beup connect to their DNS servers instead of a static IP. That could take some adjusting, but it would be worthwhile.
