ROM Hack alternate R4 firmware question

hey all, i asked this the other day in one of the threads (since locked, guess why)

anyway, I have a non clone R4 running 1.18

I want to know if its possible to use another flashcards firmware (M3, CycloDS etc) with the R4

if not, I'll look into YSMenu

YSMenu is the best that you are going to get.

You can use 'Clones' firmware like the DSTT firmware (which YSMenu is based on and essentially just an upgraded version of that)

I thought of trying to same thing when I got my R4i gold, YSMenu is your only option from what ive learned you can't change the theme's for YsMenu last I checked but maybe they changed it?

The themes can be changed. The gbatemp wiki on ysmenu has all of the information on that I believe.

I accidentally downloaded the wrong update for my R4i (incidentally it was THAT particular ^^ one I downloaded instead) and almost killed my 8GB SD card... I freaked out something chronic.
