Hacking Alternate NDS boot - R4i Gold

I have been trying to get an alternate NDS file to boot on the R4i gold (R4iDS.cn) (3DS). So far I have tried many different DLDI patches and header changes to no avail.

Can anyone with more grey matter than me help?

There is a dldi patch in __rpg of the wood released by www.r4ids.cn.
Why do not you use this patch?

No method I tried worked. The team restricted it for some odd reason, and I'm not skilled in the areas of reverse engineering or analyzing things without a wealth of documented information to figure it out.

I tried that. As jurassicplayer said the card has been realy locked down. The only two files that will boot are the _DS_MENU.DATs from the official downloads.
