Hacking AK2's MicroSDHC reader

lol the reader that came with the ak2 didnt even work when i first recieved it. so it look nice and tiny. but its useless... its worse than the one that came with my r4 (which broke after like 10-15 uses. i cant compare it with the m3real card reader since the website i brought it from scammed me from getting one.

right now, i use a card reader that i brought for £3 at my local store... and it works fine for the past 5 months.

I got this Kingston reader with my 2GB Kingston Japanese microSD and it works beautifully. It looks similar to the picture on the right a few posts up but is more solid and says "Kingston" on the side.

Mine came with a Blue Kawau reader, that was DOA
Mosupplier tells me that all the card readers they get with the AK2 have the blue one now, and apparently the black AK brand one was only for launch.

Mine still works fine and I have used it a lot. It writes fast as is pretty solidly built

True, I I like my AK2 adapter, yes, it is plasticky, but at least it works. My other adapter that came with DSTT(looks identical to that one on right) hardly works at all. However, I have also ordered this that looks the same, but I noticed it is in much higher quality than that one bundled with DSTT.

I got a Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader instead. ^^

The one that came with the DSTT (blue version of the one on the right) doesn't really work, and is a pain to use.

The one that came with the AK (the one on the left) works perfectly, and is much easier to use

I don't really understand the fuss of the microSD readers. I've had the M3 Simply reader (all metal except for the back end) which works perfectly since day one. My gf and her lil sis also have the same reader and they both work fine as well. I now have the AK2 reader (smoked black all plastic) and it works fine too. Maybe I'm just lucky to get proper readers that work, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Well, i would say the big deal for me is that when you purchase this, it is an SDHC reader and you need that to read SDHC microSD cards. Also when you purchase something and it does not work, well that sucks. For example, you buy a game online brand new from some store, you get it home and it doesn't work. Wouldn't you be a little irritated. Except now you have the difficulties of trying to return it. That is the issue we are having here. Granted it is not the main product, BUT, it is part of the product included in the sale, and it sucks.

To those who say, "...well just go out and buy a new one that works...." We shouldn't have to as this product was supposed to include one that works.

I got mine a different model. It's Acekard branded, but it doesn't have that yellow icon on it, and it's transparent. Looks like a different model, does anyone know how good the build quality of these adapters is?

Most likely not, since the R4 doesn't support microSDHC.

But you can get ones for less than $3 so why not...

Wrong. My R4 reader support SDHC just fine.

What does it look like? Is it silvery metallic and with a red LED in the middle and black text saying "microSD USB 2.0"?
