Hello all I have had a Wii system since its first release day in the US. In the course of having this wii I have softmodded my wii added an external hard drive and so on. Just yesterday I logged on to Wii Shop Channel to redownload some Virtual Console games I had erased. In order to access the Wii shop Channel I had to agree to Nintendo's TOS agreement.

Everything went well until I got an error message from the Forecast Channel when I clicked (It read system files are corrupted check you Wii operations manual. I reset and my wii booted up fine (except if I attempted to load the forecast channel I would get that screen again). Later on that Night I booted up my wii once again. I got a black screen. After several unsuccessful attempts I finally got the System files are corrupted check your wii Operations manual but, this message was garbled with missing letters. I am currently on 4.1 NTSC-U wii system. All upgrades were made through Waninkoko. I have the homebrew channel which was accessed through Twilight Princess Hack. I am not a complete noob and looked at possible solutions such as savemii, preloader, starfall, and other methods. My question is if any one has had this similar problem and successfully recovered from it. What solution did you use? Unfortunately I never got around to install starfall because I never installed themes and was confident in my abilities to update through waninkoko without bricking. I read a fix where you access a backdoor through Twilight Princess directboot so you can access homebrew channel but it seems that it will not work on 4.1. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions I don't need to be mouth fed a solution. I looked into savemii but it seems that it might not work with my 4.1. Please I ask you guys for suggestions I have not installed anything since this message and I would prefer a solution where I don't lose my Wii saves. Thanks

Super Smash Brothers Brawl NTSC-U version has some kind of smash stack exploid... autobooting that could get you into the homebrew channel to recover using bootmii?

further, starfall doesn't brick protect your wii, it only enables certain hacks, preloader doesn't even totally brick protect your wii, although it might've been able to help you recover from this one (I can't be sure, because I have no idea what exactly could be your problem)...

but good luck...

Do you have preloader or bootmii? If you have neither, you're most likely screwed.

Although, from your post, I can't tell if you can access the system menu or not... (you say that you get a black screen but might be able to install stuff?) if you can, you can either use homebrew channel to uninstall forecast channel (if you think this is the cause of a banner brick) or reinstall 4.1U (if you think you had a corrupt update file).

The bottom line is that you need to be able to access homebrew either through preloader or homebrew channel via system menu.

need to reinstall ur sytem menu.Hich can been done with wads or online methods. If u had preloader or. Bootmii as boot 2 just renistall system menu through either way. If u don't ur only option maybe is get autobooting modchip , autoboot retail USA smash bros, use smash stack so u can load bootmii and be able to get hbc and wadmanager so u can install system menu

Thank you guys for the quick responses I will look into some of the suggestions. Money is kinda tight right now and I don't want to have buy another wii. I will attempt some of the things when I have some time off. I love the GBAtemp Community
