I have a question for those that already have a 3DS (maybe from Japan) and used Flashcarts like the SCDS2 on it. What entry does the usage of a Flashcart make in the Activity / Game Log? Is it an Alex Stormrider entry or something different / suspicious?

I really like to know this before I put in my SCDS2 into the 3DS.

And please don't make this thread a "oh noes bricks" or "scare tactic blabla" thread.

I would imagine the flashcard would show up as the game whose code/signature it uses for verification. The SC DSTWO shows up as "Fish Tycoon" in the DS menu, so I believe the 3DS will just log any flashcard use as playing Fish Tycoon. Probably.

I don't believe the log is visible to normal users, similar to the PS3 logs.
Sure? I think I saw a channel like "Activity Log" in the main menu of the 3DS in some videos. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it shows up as the game it acts like. So the only reason to get suspicious is if you see someone with 500+ hours on Alex Rider or Cooking coach or whatever. And even if it did show up as "DStwo", does it matter? My Wii log says backup channel and Homebrew channel all the time and nothing strange happened. As far as I know the worst thing that can happen is your DStwo stops working with the next 3DS update.
EDIT: And I thought the log was visible to normal users much like the Wii one.

Well, what if I really like Alex Rider?

Nintendo can't ban/block on those fundaments alone, as they can't be sure if you're really playing the real deal or not.

Guess we won't be able to know more of this "log" until Team Twiizers or some other skilled hacker will finally tear apart the 3DS' Filesystem.

I know that, I only said it might look suspicious. And yes, it's very possible it actually logs more than just played games that's not visible to the normal user. But: if Ninty discovered you used a flashcard, what can they do? (Not saying they can't do anything, just wondering) Bricking the system or preventing future updates (and thus blocking newer games) will probably get them sued. And I don't think they can just take your 3DS from you if you do that...

Actually, DSTwo would show up as Alex Rider, since Fish Tycoon was blocked

So the user cannot see what's in the Activity Log? I'm really sure I saw something like a list of games you played on your 3DS accessable from the menu.

Anyway, if it really shows up as Alex Stormrider, there's nothing they can do I'd say

You would think it would just say that it was a ds game
just like when the wii just says gamecube game

but maybe the ds has enough info to tell the game in the log

Proof you can see the activity log:

Since DSi flashcarts spoof games, they'll just show up in the log as whatever game they spoof. Nintendo can't do anything to you for the log saying you played Alex Rider for 500 hours.

They can request you to show your copy as evidence and see the save files/cheak the pins for wear.
if the save file is not equal to he amount of time played aka the place you should be in the game even after restarts, then they continue the prosecution

of course ninty would not try to sue you any way since there is no garentee at the start

If that's the case, I'll buy and dedicate myself to maxing out the time and getting 100% just incase they try to pull any of the services

Easy enough to say that you have lost the cartridge or traded it in.

but that just screams suspicious
why would you "lose" the game the day they figure it out?
or
Why would you trade in a game you played so much since it would obviously be your favorite game?

If nintendo can get enough decent evidence to prove flashcard use, you'll likely be banned from online services, thus making certain functions defunct. There will be no 'ooh show me your cartridge' nonsense.

What about with the ability to reset your system as warned to do in the asian ad from weeks ago? If they do supposedly ban someone can't one just reset their system to a fresh start, update, and just go back to a normal system?

I guess that consoles unique system id which never resets would be flagged and denied access, much like the 360.

But that doesn't make sense to me....
Iirc, the ad said be sure to format before trading into retailers or else they can refuse to accept the modified or tampered system. Pretty much saying as long as it's formatted everything's fine and dandy.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly... If anyone knows of the Asian ad and it's translation please correct me if I'm wrong.
