It turns out that I had purchased one a few months ago. I threw away the packaging a while ago. Due to this I do not have a product key and cannot use the software. I've tried contacting Datel but I haven't received a response yet.

Is there anything I can do without buying another device. I guess I just wasted £15

I entered some garbage for the product key and managed to get in. The OK box is protected until you enter a certain amount of characters. The new is issue is that I get an error message, No online content available. I've tried with four games so far: Bravely Default, Zelda OoT, Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil: Revelations and no dice. I am able to back the games up however.

I finally understand the nature of my predicament. Ultimately it requires a product key, it's probably used to indicate which server the software will connect to as there is a difference between cartridges of different regions. They probably do not share the same database and that would explain my above picture of No online content available. It makes sense that the NTSC-U servers do not hold the game code for the PAL games I have. I did manage to snag an American product key but I'm not sure if it's a one time use thing and that I was never connected in the first place

In the end I'm going to have to buy another one :(

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
