Gaming ACNL: Multiple users on same cartridge

My kids and I share the same game cart. My big question is if there's an easy way to pass items from one 'save file' to another. We can do objects by dropping them on the ground but it doesn't work for things like the shark.

There doesn't seem to be a 'community' locker that we all share, or maybe I missed it.

Is there another method? Can we mail each other? Come to think of it, I haven't even tried that.

have you tried to mail the item to them
you can send items to other , it may be slow(a day), but it should work

You can share all your items except for Bugs, Fish, Custom Design furniture from Retail, or Mannequins.

Yup the mailing works. Bummer about the fish. Guess we can't share a shark...

You could also just drop the item in front of the town tree or something, then save, and load the character you want to give it to.

I do that when sending to the characters I use for storage.

Well, if you want to share the shark so they can sell it later, then you can just sell it and drop the money somewhere.
