Hacking acekard 2i cheats not working

I have an acekard 2i with AKAIO installed. Cheat play is enabled. I deleted all contents in the cheats folder and downloaded the cheat file from http://cheats.gbatemp.net/ and put the xml file in it.

But now it says database not found. On New super mario bros, cheats are working after I wait a while for "rebuilding database". But all other games state database not found. I also rebuilds the database everytime I try to access the cheats. Only one ROM is patched, so the ID should be correct at most games. What should I do?

Thanks, it's working now. One remaining question: is there a way to force cheat for a patched ROM? The rom is in the game list, but it is not recognized.

when you patch a game the ID changes. add that new ID to the cheat dat.

How do you edit a DAT file? Do I need a special editor?
