Hacking AC:NL on Sky3DS?

Yeah I had issues with getting the error all I did was deleted the rom from the sd card then using version 1 of the disk writer with version 1 template rewrote ac to the sd card and hey presto the game worked

Can I have newer games with an older template such as Smash?
The purpose of the templates are to give the writer game-specific information so that they don't need to make a whole new writer for every game.

It's not going to work if the template predated the game's release, because it wouldn't be in the template, unless it's been modified.

Thanks for that explanation.

I'm a little late to the party but sky3ds is just being sloppy with their template files, basically the template file contains the necessary header/hash information so just open up the template file and search for your game's serial/codename.

For example for monster hunter 4g it's CTR-P-BFGJ and for some bizarre reason the template file has two entries so there's a couple of ways go about using the one you want(and in some cases, the one that actually works). You can either cut and paste that entry into another txt file which you can choose as the template file, or simply deleting that entry altogether from the template file and sky3ds will use the other one.

Since you seem lot smarter than me, I've also heard that the Sky3DS has trouble with ROMs over 2GB. Is this true?

What game do you have in mind? I've never even seen a 4GB game, though I admittedly haven't looked very hard at all.
Pokemon X/Y/OR/AS are all 2GB, and so is Smash 3DS.

Animal crossing to start off with and donkey kong but I used an older template as there was a template issue but the sky3ds team said its being sorted in the latest template
