if i get a passcard (Passcard 3 in this case)i dont actually need to flash the DS yer, cause thats pretty much wat the card is for, or have i got it all wrong?

Well you need some kind of Passcard device in order to flash it in the first place. But yes flashing is more or less a replacement for keeping a Passcard or similar in your DS. Now that they are as small as a regular DS card and don't need an original game hooked up to it I suppose the advantage of flashing isn't as big anymore.

I'm not sure if FlashMe has features that the Passcard 3 doesn't have.

Yeah the benefits of flashing ur DS is ur able to use the suspend mode feature (well as long as u have an original game inserted), doesn't work with Passcards unfortunately, not with my Datel card anyway.

Actually, only the Datel Max Media Launcher can't enter "suspend" mode (sleep mode), and even that can be modded to work. Passcard 3 sleeps perfectly.
Also according to tests I've read somewhere, the battery loss with Passcard 3 compared to Flashme is miniscule, only about 15 minutes (this was tested using an M3, though)

Apparently you can't use Download Play if one of the DSes is booting up using a Pass device or Flashme, unless ALL the DSes that are downloading it are Flashed. Normal multiplayer (where everyone has the game) works fine though.

if that the only problem, thats ok then, i'm not gonna go through the risk of flashing i'm not that good with electronics, if ppl cant download play then who cares i'll play a game we both have then

thank for the help and quick replies guys.

If you keep your DS card slot free (no DS game or passkey device) while using your flashcart, you'll get a signficant boost in battery power. For me, I got an extra hour or more by doing this, after flashing my DS. The only problem is, you will lose sleep mode if you don't put anything in the slot.

My theory is that the DS uses any game in the DS card slot to store data to allow the console to go into sleep mode. This causes it to use more battery power if you put anything in the slot.

Flashing will also give you the opportunity to recover your DS if you happen to run into a malicious ROM.
