Hacking A noob that needs help

Hi everyone I'm pretty new to all this 3ds hacking stuff
I didn't even hack my 3ds my boyfriend did so I have no idea on how to update my 3ds savely to the newest version
I'm currently on 11.3.0-36E I have a old 3ds.

My payload type is Arm9loaderhax my luma3ds updater is on version v1.4.2
I read something about a boot9strap do I need to change to that forts to update or can I keep the Arm9loaderhax
Pleasee help me
