I'm trying to remove the music from Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Megadrive. I found this super helpful post on Sonic Retro that recommends changing specific Hex Values and replacing them with others.
From the comments on there, it seems that the hex edit did the trick! Now I'm trying to accomplish the same thing using "HxD" Hex Editing software.
Problem is, I can't seem to find the offset's they're talking about in the post. Namely:
EDIT
I think I might have solved it. Changed the bits (?) to 8 and managed to find the offset 00001358.
As for 002015E2, I managed to find 002015E0 and took an educated guess that the 3rd column across was E2. So I changed all those values. Is that a correct assumtion? Never really come across and Hex Editors before in the past hahaha
Here's a picture of the values changed to the new ones.
EDIT 2
Okay. The assumption was correct. The Music was removed perfectly and the sound effects remain unchanged! Awesome.
Thanks to anyone that took the time to take a look anyway.
