Ok im probably going to buy a wii modchip and i was looking at a few things.
First off i have a D2C wii.

Im either looking at the D2Ckey or the D2Pro, which would be a better investment? im not looking for the region free as ill only be playing US games.
Whats the cheapest place to buy whichever one the clip for it and a tri wing screw driver? i was looking at ozmodchips but idk.

Also what programs would i need besides imgburn?

well i'd be using a clip so the wires wouldn't matter all that much. Any other opinions or suggestions?

I'm gonna hold off until 9 wire d2pro is offered. I really don't know if it will matter with a wii-clip but I'll still wait. Maybe that can be one of your options?

What does the Wii Clip do? I too am looking into modding my D2C Wii, but I think I wanna w8 for the D2Pro 9 wire.

Also, does the tri-wing screwdriver for the Wii/DS also fit into the GameCube controller screws, or is it a different size?

I also want to know why we couldn't use a clip...

i think the kids just being retarted, maybe trying to get his post count up, or his sorry attempt at humor. The wii clip is just where you solder the chip to a clip and then clip it onto the wii, no need for wires or soldering directly onto the consol. www.wii-clip.com they have some pics of how it works

I'm not sure about the gamecube controller part but if it has tri wing screws then probably.

Ok thanks

some more questions:
you can still buy VC games with a modded wii right?
Does the version of my wii make a difference? i have the latest (3.2 i think)
Does the D2Pro still have region free? there might be some Japanese game I wanna play.

well im not too knowledgable about modding, others on this site would be way more helpfull than me, i'm assuming you still can buy VC games with a modded wii because it doesn't affect anything like that.

Yes version of the wii matters with the chips, theres a site where you put in your serial number and it'll tell you what kind it is.

The D2Pro has region free but if you use the clip it requires additional soldering i think

Your thinking of my Wii type, which is D2C. I was talking about like the "wii updates". Eg. Wii menu 3.2 or whatever it did... The latest was version 3.2 that came out February 25. I remember one of the past updates made it so the WiiKey didn't work.

So really there wouldn't be a point of getting a clip because I would have to sodder it anyway right?

Yeh. You can still buy VC games with a modded Wii.
It doesn't make a difference at the moment what firmware you have.
D2Pro still has region free as far as I'm aware.

That guy who said the clip won't work has no idea. The wii-clip will be fine with a D2Pro.

Yeah, im just hoping to get peoples opinion on D2Ckey D2Pro and Wasabi of which would be best.

I think that for D2Pro (with clip) you need to solder 4 wires to get region free

OH wow! Just looked at the wasabi and it looks GREAT.
-Already has 9 wires installation, and My Wii could be a D2B (5 wires) (has that tiny chance

)
-No extra wires for region override so bonus if using wii clip (right?

Sorry more questions

-What does it mean by "Excellent media compatibility (supports DL media)"?

-What's the difference between "external USB programmer" and "Fully upgradable from DVD (no external programmer required)" (dont take that as a retards question, Im just a noob to modding) I have a Mac so if a program is needed, I might have problems.

-Does the "external USB" plug into the Wii's USB port or directly to the chip? I don't want to have to take my Wii apart every time I get an update.

-Also, SSBB and SMG had some protection stuff on it, if a new game came a out with a new type of protection, would I have to buy a chip again, or is that fixed with an update?

-What is the point of the chip having a stealth function?

- Means it can support most media... But if cannot that's the Wii's fault.

- Wasabi supports upgrades via DVD.

- If they are a good team they will provide an update.

- Stealth means that when you hold the reset button while powering on it will act as if it's not there..
