Hello, this is my first post.

I’m writing because I have a problem with my Wii Family Edition. It started when, upon trying to turn it on, the Wiimotes would not connect, it wouldn’t read the USB for USB Loader GX, it wouldn’t open Wii apps, and it wouldn’t read discs from Priiloader. I discovered that IOS80 was corrupted. At some point, when trying to reinstall it, the SD card got corrupted, so I had to format it and ended up losing all the files. Because of this, I don’t know how to reinstall IOS80.

I do have Priiloader, but it won’t let me access “Load/Install File” using the buttons on the front of the Wii. I also have a backup of my NAND, but since it’s a Wii Family Edition, it doesn’t ask me for armboot.bin to run it. I would appreciate any ideas to solve this problem.

be careful with priiloader, it could brick your wii if you replace the system IOS, the IOS80, I am not sure if something changed with the years, but I would delete priiloader, install the IOS and install priiloader again, all this if I have that issue

But what if no Wiimotes connect?
Everything works except for the Wii's default system. The Homebrew Channel works, all the other applications work, but the Wiimotes can't connect.

Really bad advice. The system menu ios is critical regardless of whether priiloader is installed or not.

Are you able to launch into homebrew? Try launching into the latest version of usbloader gx , which is able to sync wiimotes.

If not, try saving gx's boot.dol to sd:/wii_secure.dol and hopefully it boots

After you manage to sync wiimote you should update priiloader to the latest version which is able to use the face buttons on the console to navigate most menus

There are other potential solutions here as well, but for now I'd start with that

I had the latest version of USB Loader GX, but the Wiimotes still wouldn’t connect. I have Priiloader 0.10.0, which seems to be the latest version, but the menu to load apps can’t be navigated using the front buttons.

I have a question: if it’s a Family Edition and I add GameCube controller ports, will I be able to navigate Homebrew without problems using those controllers? Or does some software change need to be made to enable them?

Did you try using the red sync buttons?

Can u launch bootmii from priiloader using the face buttons (ensuring you have required sd:/bootmii files)?

You should just be able to just add the GC ports and have them work iirc
Yes, I tried that and they still won’t connect, although they do connect to a PC.

I used to be able to do it, but I had to format the SD card where I had the files and I didn’t have a backup. Now it asks me for armboot.bin in the BootMii folder.

In that case, I might try it if there’s no other solution. Thank you very much.
