what does the exploit do exactly?
It just displays a message saying 'Hello World' or something else, nothing special but it shows that you would be able to run other unsigned code aka homebrew and stuff

Just think of this exploit as a demo. A demo that shows that you can run homebrew on your PSP Go through a special method. Using this special method, the person who made this exploit was able to make a PSP Go display a message saying 'Hello World' or something unimportant. But you won't be able to luanch homebrew apps and stuff until this person or some other person makes a homebrew launcher
Hope this helps

As long as people don't update before a proper exploit is released, shouldn't they be fine? I don't see how an early release completely kills the exploit (assuming end-users get the news and aren't dumb).

Then again, I don't know anything about the PSP scene. Wii FTW. But drama exists on all the scenes

I don't see how it could be a problem if you have the demo and you don't update, if Sony releases an update.

Sony isn't going to come to your house and take away your demo.
