Hello Everyone

Merry Christmas hope everyone has had a good day. Ive been doing lots of reading over the last week to the point my head is about to explode. I would just like to know whats the easiest CFW to install, id also like to boot backups which I understand is tinfoil. Im just lost and have no idea of the best option.

Kosmos is probably the easiest to setup for your needs. You are correct that you will use Tinfoil to install NSP files.

To do any of this, your Switch must be vulnerable to the RCM exploit.

Need more details about your Switch, if you even have one at all yet, to really help you out.

Yep I have a switch on 6.2 XAJ70017377556 which I think is hackable. Thanks again for all the help.

I got my switch two weeks ago. Here are some tips from a fellow noob. Here's a good guide to get you started: https://guide.sdsetup.com/#/

1. Using aluminium foil to get into recovery mode (RCM) has been the cheapest/ most reliable method for getting into rcm on the first try for me. Unlike using paper clips, it doesn't run the risk of damaging the pins, and you don't have to open the joycon/bend the pins to short circuit the switch to go into rcm (who're are these people that are throwing away perfectly good joycons?).

2. Download tegrarcm gui and connect your switch to the computer while trying to get into rcm. This way the program can indicate to you when you've successfully booted into rcm.

3. Be-careful of all of the misinformation out there. DO NOT UPDATE TO 6.2 STOCK FIRMWARE.
edit: I think some people are getting confused here. I'm not saying Never update to 6.2. I'm just saying that since it's new and since you're a noob to wait a while.

4. Make a back up of your nand as soon as you can.

5. The guide I linked above tells you how to get your biskeys which are needed for running pirated games etc. I've heard of tinfoil (the homebrew app) being kind of troublesome for installing and playing pirated games, but the app N1dus hasn't given me trouble yet and can install both xci's and nsp's.

6. It's possible to play local co-op using some DNS settings that blocks nintendo's servers. It also allows you to use FTPD (a wireless file transferring protocol) to transfer files to and from your switch without plugging your MicroSD card into the computer.

7. The games are huges. so a 128gb/ 256 GB is recommended. Also, keep your sd card as exfat when backing up your nand. It takes longer to back up your nand when it's fat32, as fat32 can't store files that are 4 Gb and larger. So the nand backup and verification process takes much longer at the process is segmented. almost twice as long.

8. as for custom firmware, I use atmosphere cfw as it has the largest compatibility with other programs like sys-netcheat and Nswitchdebugger, etc. I was using a ReinX guide, but it kinda sucked,as it told me to back up my nand AFTER I upgraded from 4.1 to 6.1. ( I got my switch on 4.1) which would have caused me to burn fuses preventing me from downgrading in the future. Though I like the anime theme of the firmware and guide, this ( coupled with the fact that preventing fuse burning when updating didn't seem all that to them) I stopped using that firmware and guide.

I haven't tried sx os as it has lower compatibility than atmosphere too. Plus I'm not paying for cfw. seems to kinda go against what the scene stands for.

dm me if u have more questions

What? Atmosphere 0.8.2 has full support for 6.2 and there are sweet sig patches for 6.2, too. Maybe you're the one misinformed? SX OS are the ones that don't support 6.2 yet.

Why do you say do not update to 6.2? It has been hacked and CFW now works on 6.2

I know we can run CFW 6.2 from a previously hacked switch. I dunno about taking a 6.2 OFW switch and hack it to run cfw.

If you have evidence here, please share it.

Also, the noob friendly sticky thread also says not to update to OFW 6.2.

You do understand that running 6.2 through atmosphere means that it's a custom firmware, right?

If you have evidence of a switch on 6.2 OFW being able to accept payloads and run CFW 6.2, share the evidence here. Otherwise, please stop with the misinformation. I've seen it hurt several noobies, and I've only been in this scene for about 2-3 weeks.

Mike you do know that CFW is really patches over the official?
You can't have cfw 6.2 on a 5.1 ofw switch (excluding emunand)
If your talking about a switch that is unboxed with 6.2 from factory then 99% chance it's patched and the rcm exploit is fixed. Updating to 6.2 will not patch the rcm exploit

The noob friendly sticky probably hasn’t been updated. Yes any Switch that comes with 6.2 will be patched and unhackable but you specifically said do not UPDATE to 6.2 implying that an already hacked switch would not work on 6.2 when that has not been the case for several weeks.

Mike the noob sticky first post on.thread hasn't been updated since November...

6.2 has been cracked since then and it's smart not to jump onto new ofw right away

So then why is there a serial number-list for buying a switch. I just saw a guide that said that switches past July 2018 are patched?

Okay, if an non-hacked switch on 6.2 can be hacked, share the evidence here. All I'm saying is it's safer to wait and update later.

I have friends that aren't really in the mod scene, and I can tell you that they update as soon as they see an update message appear. I was just assuming that since this poster is a noob, they shouldn't update right away.

Cool. Soo 6.2 was recently hacked. You think it's a good idea to tell a noob to update to it right away?

And I never said "NEVER UPDATE". I just said don't update.

You're the one giving out misinformation. Of course you can enter RCM and run payloads on a 6.2 unit, why wouldn't you? RCM has nothing to do with the OS, or even software in general.

Your saying it can't be hacked or cfw which is tottaly untrue....

because some people have noticed some let's go Evie are hackable even tho they are above 4.1
That guide has been around since before 4.1 was released. So looking at it in this day without the date context you could ask why is it needed. If it comes with 4.1+ out if the box it's 99% chance it's patched
