After reading about newer Wiis being unable to display 480p correctly, I dusted off my old RVL-CPU-01 models of which I have two and fired up 240p test suite. And sure enough, the 480p patch works.

But now I noticed some weirdness when red objects are being rendered.

I made some comparison shots:

Note: this is with the 480p patch disabled on both Wiis
I tried my best with the photos. In person it's much more obvious.

Red text and sprites look much smoother on the newer CPU-40 Wii. Anybody else noticed that behaviour? Is there a fix?

This is a zero-order hold on the subsampled chroma. I had used an optimized setting for 4:2:2 component video decoders.

There is a setting that applies filtering to chroma, but it complicates the logic as it makes 480i/240p blurry.

I'm sorry but how do I do that? Haven't found any settings like that in USB Loader GX. Or can this be set system wide?

Thanks for your help. I never compiled something so that's that. And by modified patch you mean just to change the value in the source code?

I have looked around files like video.h or whatever it's called. Didn't find the function. And if I find it I need to look into programming and compiling stuff. I have absolutely no idea where to start.

And if I want to patch Nintendont, would it be the same process?

At the same time, would all of this have a negative effect on the 480p patch?
