Nintendo has never released a replacement battery for as long as I can remember. They might be forced to, but as people have already said, they battery would have to be bigger which would change the dimensions of the 3DS. They would completly alienate old users who can't get the new battery or have older accessories (cases, original dock, etc.).
TAKE THAT!

You can't buy them in stores, no, but Nintendo has always sold replacement parts, including batteries, on their online store. In fact, I have bought a replacement battery from them in the past for my DSlite.

Nintendo 3DS Travel Charging Dock with Rechargeable Internal Battery
2000mAh
The extra battery is built into the charger, and it comes with a USB cable. I really like this one because I won’t have to change the back casing of the 3DS and it can still be placed onto the charger that was included with the system. I would love to be able to use this along with Nyko’s battery, but it’s just too bad that Nyko needs its own proprietary charging dock. Works alongside the 3DS battery, so that's 1300mAh original plus 2000mAh from this device.
Total: of 3300mAh.

This is what I ordered from Amazon

Image the ultimate battery solution:
Nyko Power Pak+ installed, and then two of the wrist bands on each wrist.
2600+(4x1500) = 8600mAh
2 for each wrist and i can call it a bowser costume
That would be a great idea (especially if you can put the points on the band.) However, looking at the image, I guess I can only use 1 at a time.
No bother though: Nyko's voltaic pile (2,600) + the wrist charger (1,500) = 4,100, a quantity higher than any individual solution. The problem though is that the price will be around $30 + $35 = $65.

Pretty sure he meant replacement batteries with differing specs.
I did. Thought that was insinuated. TY

I'd prefer this to the nyko thing.

Looks like you switch it on to charge your battery when it's dying, it charges it, then you play more, then it might have enough charge to charge the battery again, since they claim "triple playtime".
Looks interesting, but I have run into problems with cases like that. Dust and dirt can get underneath it and scratch the up the outer shell of the system (DLS in my case). The EB/GS my friend works at has the Nyko battery in, so I'm probably going to pick that up along with my 3DS tomorrow.

Hmm, might have worded that one wrong a bit there haha

More along the lines of when I sit down at my house, a friends, on a train/bus/coach etc.. I couldn't really care about how fashionable my wrist strap looks, I'm more focused on the game than worrying about if people like my wrist strap.

Wonder if they sell that in the UK, would be useful for charging my phone, wonder if it comes with any adapters also...

wait so the original 1300 mah if doubled or watever and getting a battery with 2800 mah would that double the lifetime of the battery???
