Thanks for the quick reply @ihaveamac

So, there is no way for the following conversion to be done with any windows tools:
.3ds (MD5=X) --->.cia ---> .3ds (MD5=Y)
or
.3ds (MD5=X) --->.cia ---> .3ds ----> paded .3ds (MD5=Y)
where we have the hashes X=Y

is that right?

Also (if it is of no trouble) could you please help me with this:

You seem like the right person to ask (I couldn't PM you)

The untrimmed file just has padding data. It can always be re-added manually if needed, it doesn’t matter if it was converted to and from other formats.

The real issue you might want to know is loss of cart-specific when creating a CIA out of a “.3ds”. It’s nothing that causes issues when trying to run the title, but you cannot convert it back without some header data missing. The solution is to not convert it back to “.3ds” in the first place and instead keep the original file.

Great tool, thank you! Shame it's not getting enough interest due to being cli-based, unlike Riku's 3DS Simple CIA Converter.

@ihaveamac I'm converting .3ds files to .cia with your tool, but they all have version 0.0.0 instead of their actual version, is there a way to use the original version instead of 0.0.0?
Thanks in advance
