Hardware 3DS XL not opening any apps

Bought a super cheap faulty 3DS XL where it all turns on without any problems but the moment I try to boot a cart, select the system settings, create a Mii etc, it just hangs on the Nintendo 3DS logo and then I have to press and hold the power button. It won't let me force update it by pressing and holding L+R+A+Up while I turn it on because I just get a black screen. Is this pretty much a bricked console?

if you have an ntrboot cart try doing a ctrtransfer, if you don't try booting a really old game like ocarina of time you may have a bad frankenfirm that has 7.x+ system applications but not a 7.x+ firm causing crypto errors (although I'm not sure if even that would work, but worth a shot to try eliminate reasons) might also be worth trying to boot into nds mode with any nds game

And finally try disabling wifi
