Im no tech guy but that looks to me like a disaster waiting to happen...

That's... not at all uncommon for Nintendo's consoles. It tends to hold up just fine.

I'm more interested in discussing the clear shell, and wondering where I can get one for a normal 3DS.

AFAIK this is a jap 3ds xL...
haven't seen a norm one tho...

I don't understand the whole thing... whats wrong with the 3DS... is it... because the cables are twisted? Who cares. As long as they don't get twisted every day in the other direction.. they won't break.

AND... YES! Custom shells are a great thing!

The disaster waiting to happen is when its dropped on that hinge and snap.
