Hacking 3DS Update worth it?

I'm on 6.2 now, so I can't access the eShop. However, I'm about to get Mario Kart 7 and I'll need to get the eshop updte for MK7 to play online. Do you think I should update to 6.3 or stay on 6.2 and abandon MK7?

Even on my DSi XL and Acekard 2i, I always stayed offline and never got the urge to go online for anything, so my answer was No in this poll without question. But now I'm wondering how much more fun I can have with taking my 3DS (I'm a new 3DS owner, haven't had it even a full month yet) online and going completely legit.. It's not enough to make me actually update since I'm sure I'll regret it more than not, but still...

If you're on 6.2, there's really no point to not update. You're already several firmware editions ahead of all the current hacking progress, which seems to be focused on 4.x firmware

MK7 is fun to play online. At least I think so. It adds greatly to the gameplay experience competing against other players from around the world. And, though it doesn't matter to some, everytime you race online you're adding more Miis to your plaza.

You can always backup your nand flash to downgrade back to 6.2.

Uh, there aren't any guides for that are there? I haven't updated, but can't that brick the system? How do you even restore the NAND? IIRC, there really aren't any guides to doing that.....
