I have an old 3ds and want to access the root terminal. How do I do that?

3DS operating system is not a Unix and there is no user root to my knowledge.
However, custom firmware allows access with the highest possible privileges and you can write scripts in GodMode9.

Note that "root" access on any system allows destroying the software.

You don't. There 3ds OS have not a command interpreter. And you don't need it

Read the messages and please do nothing before read the cfw Guide

GodMode9 doesn't provide a terminal interface, but you can write scripts. Pretty much the same, just non-interactive.

But please RTFM! I'll jump right through the internet cables if you do things like this.

If what you want are the privileges of "root" then godmode9 is the answer.

If you really want is a command line interface you can always play with Linux on 3DS.

ok, so really we was on a XY problem, you needed to build homebrew and asked for 3ds shell.
