Hardware 3DS Tegra debunked

Earlier today, a team of dedicated hackers (including WinterMute, of DS homebrew fame) discovered a teaser image located on the Nintendo of America official website. The image was quickly taken down, but the damage was already done. It appears to give us our very first technical details about the successor to the DSi, the 3DS. We contacted NOA for confirmation on the image and they responded by saying the image "may have been uploaded for any number of reasons, none of which we can comment further on." When questioned about the validity of the image, NOA responded, "We are considering this image to be in the category of rumors and speculation. We here at Nintendo do not comment on such things."

By the way, it has a 3DS logo on it, even though 3DS isn't even the final name. Looks sooooo fake.
And I don't think NOA knows a lot about the development of 3DS. It's based in Japan, just as always.

It was, that's why they picked it.

It's quite an obvious fake really. I think it's highly unlikely the 3DS doesn't use Tegra, but we'll see. They'll probably announce all of the details at E3.
