Hacking 3DS Save Editing help

Hello everyone, I recently purchased an R4i Save dongle, a device that allows you to extract the .sav data from Nintendo DS and 3DS cartridges. I own a North American 3DS and games, and I was wondering if there is any way to edit these save files once I have them backed up on my computer. 3DS Powersaves software doesn't work because I do not own the hardware, but if there is a workaround that would allow me to access its save editing function directly, that would be extremely useful. you can't edit the 3DS save right now
the Powersaves only take the save from the cartridge it self

Okay, thanks, that explains a lot. For instance, I found out after backing up my Pokemon X save file that Pokemon are no longer stored in the save file but in the cartridge itself, making it impossible to clone Pokemon with one cartridge and Pokemon Bank. Hopefully I can borrow a friend's Powersaves sometime in the future then . . .
