3DS Release Recap
How the english release of the 3DS went.

The 3DS has now been released in the US and EU!

While it's had some issues with the launch firmware and some users are reporting dead pixels, these issues may seem blown out of proportion considering that the number of 3DS systems sold broke Nintendo's handheld record.

Even with these launch issues, reviews seem positive, and the system's AR (Augmented Reality) is particularly noted as an impressive concept. Many people are excited for a big system update scheduled in the future, which will bring the rest of the 3DS's features (which weren't all ready in time for launch).

While there have been rumors of bricking, these are nothing more than rumors, and various flash carts are functioning just fine on the system.[/p]

I finally got to play on one monday. Some kid at my school had one and he let me play around with it and my impressions were not misplaced at all. I can't wait to get one (probably around m bday...imma be throwing hints like Blue's Clues)

Not surprised it broke the handheld sales record but who had it before...I forgot.

it's out in every important english speaking country but i still have to wait another 2 1/2 hours for the 9am launch (due to shops here all being shit and not doing a midnight launch)

Well I'm not sure how it sold, but I expected there to be a big line so I got to Gamestop at 7:30 (And considering I had to walk left the house earlier than that), they opened at 9, I was the only person who was insane enough to do what I though was needed to get one...

The 3DS is out today in Australia. I'll hopefully be getting my one delivered to my door today. I've already picked up Street Fighter IV and Ridge Racer this morning, now to just wait for the system

i havent had any problems with my 3DS,

only problem im having is i dont have internet.

iv been trying to find a way to get it to connect to a tether or ad hoc network for 3 days.
iv found some success.

Finally got to play one at Best Buy this morning with Pilot Wings being demo'd. The graphics were pretty smooth, if plain and simplistic. (I wonder if this could have been done on the DS with some minor tweaks...me's thinking of Super Mario 64 DS)

The analog stick was nice. The 3D effect however was kinda blah. It was kinda hard to keep that narrow sweet spot with the anti-theft device grabbing the unit downwards. And even when it did snap into place it was a pain (not literally, it was just annoying and distracting from the game) having to keep adjusting my eyes to maintain it.

I'm going to go play my DS now...I'll wait until all the early **cough**beta-testers**cough** and upcoming buyers drive the price down and then take another look at it. It may a few years, but I can wait.

$250 is too much for this, even with good games.

P.S. I think I saw someone playing a black one on the bus on my way home.

That color is almost on the verge of being sickly baby poop green, but not quite. I would never buy that color if they made one.

If Nintendo were to make the actual colors, they most likely will not look exactly like ones here, due to various technical differences dealing with pigments and light refraction that I CBA to go into...
