So I hear the NDS is region-coded, so no import games and no foreign eshops. Is this true?

That's not a problem now, but there are an increasing amount games (full retail and downloadable) that don't get released in Japan. One of my favorite things about the original DS was the ability to play any region game. I can read Japanese, but I don't really fancy playing a text-heavy RPG in the language; I liked that I had the ability import a Dragon Quest game in English and be able to play it without some device or hack. I'm sad I won't be able to do that with the 3DS.

Will I just have to wait until the 3DS gets hacked and the region lock can be bypassed?

Oh well, at least when I get Star Fox I'll only have to put with Slippy's marginally less aggravating Japanese voice instead of that awful English one.
