Will the R4i Gold from www.r4i-gold.com work? I know that there are 2 R4i Golds, and it seems like the one you mention in the FAQ is not the one I said u_u.

If it's reflashable... it should work, right?

Updated with more information on obtaining 3DS save files and links to several sites/threads.

Posting in a rather useful FAQ.

Really, this helped out quite a lot for information.

There seems to be a lot of bickering over...Not really the part about bricking the 3DS as we confirmed it was just scare tactics to force us to refrain from using flash cards. I'm more concerned about online usage, is it true that using them may cause Nintendo to black list our 3DS and force it from being able to go online? I'm not really asking about if they could, I'm asking if they would do it.

If anyone ended up unable to play online even though they have/had a decent connection that would be helpful.

Haven't heard of anyone yet and seriously doubt they'd do that. Online isn't an important part of the 3DS experience so pirates won't give up piracy completely just to be able to play Mario Kart every now and then, the whole procedure would probably cost Nintendo more money to keep it working including more support calls etc. than what they get back from people suddenly buying legit games. Also, it would lock everyone who doesn't only pirate (people who use flashcarts for homebrews only, to try out games before they buy, or to keep all their games on one cartridge) out from the eStore, so Nintendo would lose quite some money here.

I'm curious. . . Obviously this couldn't happen before any 3ds roms are dumped, but what stops people from making a fake game with the necessary exploits run like a real game and put that on a cart? I'm sure real Nintendo carts probably have some piece of code in them that marks them as "legit" to the console, but if you had multiple games it couldn't be that hard to watch which memory addresses are called and manipulate them accurately in a fake game.

This is less an OMG POSSIBLE EXPLOIT GUISE and more a "Why doesn't this happen?". Since flash carts exist, this solution seems obvious, to me. So why isn't it possible to design a fake game that instantly causes the right code to run when booted from a cart, once 3DS roms are dumped and the hackers understand the legality checks involved?

If I'm understanding you correctly, it's because there's no signature and finding the correct signature to use is not an easy task.

Updated the question regarding 3DS game files and removed answers that were of a speculative nature.

have soem questions
+the 3DS supports DS, DSi & 3DS mode. seems the DS mode is currently usable via flashcarts, but what do you think it will talk to be able to use DSimode via 3DS?
+as for 3DS homebrew it seems there useing a very different devkit from previous DS & DSi with added stuff. that means that a new code like for devkit pro will need to be made right? lib3DS?
yaynds.gif
(theres still not a libDSi lol)
+& last question it seems in your post that 2 3DS games have already been ripped. is there anything in those ripped games that will supply anything on how things work on 3DS, & differences to DS, & DSi games as of tech, code, how they codded it, ect?

also im not sure about them bricking 3DS's because of use of flashcarts. i do see them taking some other action tho, for instance.
if you use a flashcard, what ever pirated game you play, there be a code in the 3DS that blocks you from playing that game from then on retail or pirated.
for instance if i were to insert my acekard 2i in the 3DS & play some pirated COD: Black Ops DS on it. from then on next time i play get a message & never being ever to play that game again retail or pirated(on flashcard).
with flashcarts there updateable for every firmware that blocks them but not the games. & with 3DS games im sure the developers arent gonna make updated to make them pirateable.

im not really all that interested in pirating as you can see lol, i just like the homebrew possibilities, improved graphics, gyro, acellerometer, c-pad, ir, ect.

Sandbox engine 3DS anyone? with all of this i can make the full game i have been trying to make all of this time.
Sandbox engine DS-DSi : DS mode

If Nintendo does decide to block 3DS's that have used a flashcart from using online services that's going to make buying a second hand 3DS pretty obnoxious.

Not really. That's what most people do.

Buy one for legit stuff.

Buy one for non-legit stuff.

Oh, I thought me meant it the other way, though I just reread his post and saw "second hand 3ds"

If that's what he meant, than yes that would be obnoxious.

If i have a european 3ds does it matter if I order my flashcart from the US or do only european carts work?
