it can only be updated if the region is the same. I think it takes that from the title id.

I don't know if you're forced to update as I don't play online.

no eshop game is going to be region free, which is why it doesn't work a lot of the time with updates. I don't really understand the point of region free when the title id remains the same afaik.

Could I be banned for playing online with a region free CIA and not updated ?

afaik, the only time you can get banned anymore is for cheating.

depends on the game. some fix bugs; others add content. I updated every game I had, but I had to search online for a cia for a lot of the games. I usually downloaded region free games, but it seems pointless if you can't update normally sometimes.

I don't know. I think the region has to be the same as the region free cia due to title id.

The title Id needs to match what the rom title is for it. if the TID low does not match you will get nags of updating still.

that's why I don't get the reason for region free if luma is already region free anyway.
