What's with people and playing their pokemon game so badly. O_o

Backup the entire SD card when you made a nand backup to your system, to be sure you have everything. The nand backup is needed only in order to restore the version (that you are currently using) back to the original.. But ONLY on the gateway mode, if you upgrade your original DS firmware, you are screwed.

Unless you fancy some soldering work.

Hmm, are there any step by step instructions on how to dump the nand and update the emunand?

I had a look at this list, I am currently on 4.4, and there are some games I wanna try which is 4.5. Do I let the game update it to 4.5, or do this emunand thingy?

Q: I read that we will need to update the Red Card at some point soon, is it true that the "clones" aren't updateable ??
A: The clones are not updateable and multirom/NAND saving will show this

well lets see how far I get with a 4i

Balls of steel but also a brain of dust.

What's the point of telling Nintendo that? They won't just change policy because you said you use the Gateway. Only effect this can have is Nintendo taking some sort of action against you. (I doubt they will, but they definitely won't do anything positive.)

of laughter they will probably give him the private key...

didn't they say they would have pokemon working with the next update?
Yes for sure in 2.0 the same as multirom I guess.
Oh it is on the gateway site that they will bring it.
They don't say anything about game dumping I think. It must be in it.

wait, what do you mean with "updating the red card"? you don't mean the hardware right? RIGHT?!?!?!?!?
and if it's not the hardware, why aren't the clones updatable? (in what sense do you update the red card, to begin with. a firmware? clone "red cards" don't have it? is it even possible?).

p.s. somebody should update the news part of the first post.

They mean software or firmware not hardware. And i suspect the GW has a NAND chip containing the card firmware contrary to the clones having a ROM chip to cut costs, so we can rewrite the firmare on the GW but the clones cannot due to the ROM chip, don't know for sure just my suspicion.

That was straight from them, its regarding the cards internal firmware, which multirom and NAND saving comes out, so will a card update, Which the clones cant do as they arent updateable according to team

Well the clone cards may be update able but who is going to write their firmware? So far all they have done is ripped of Gateway, maybe Gateway will put some measures in to make it difficult for cloners to copy. Not worried as I have both a Gateway and a clone....Gateway $75 at launch and got r4 for half that $37. The clones still give you something and for less than one retail game so even of they never have nand save or multirom doesn't mean they aren't a good value for some gamers.

I mean clarification on these items:

-Is the upcoming b2 the Christmas update?
-If it isn't, will we still get a Christmas update?
-If the Christmas update is being pushed back because of b2

The pre Xmas update will not be the final version of 2.0 which will have NAND Saving and the Multirom, at this stage im unsure if these features will make it into the 2nd beta, which is mainly to have it working in 7.0 like it was in 6.3, the team did say hopefully before Xmas, no point in rushing it, better to have all working well and properly with minimal to no issues, than pushing out something early (Be prepared for the "clone teams" to push back their dates for features :)

Well, it's always good to be sure. For me personally, as long as mulit-ROM is here by January 14th, I'm good. I could use my 8GB cards in my camera, especially now that I find out I'm being booked for Universal Studios as well. I can finally pass Soundstage 19 and give TNA the good old middle finger and have it on camera lol

I wonder if multi-rom support involves putting the roms onto the SD card and when you pick a rom from the GW launcher, it does an image write to the microsd card in the gateway. It would remind me of my EWIN 2-in-1 GBA cart where it has to first copy the GBA image from the SLOT1 card to the SLOT2 card. The delay would be annoying, but I guess it beats carrying around a bunch of unidentifiable microsd cards.

why not just do something like this http://gbatemp.net/threads/gateway-3ds-sd-card-covers.354183/. I myself dont really care about multi-rom support
