I am running into a strange issue. I backed up my NAND, converted it to EmuNAND, and booted into GW mode. I go into settings to check the version and see GW3D 4.5.0-10U. Good. I then try and back out and it freezes and when it comes back, it is no longer in gateway mode and the setting menu shows Ver. 4.5.0-10U. It's like it reboots when I try and close the settings from within gateway mode.

I hope e-shop won't be closed for gateway users, I still want to buy treasurenauts when it'll be released.

To be honest, following GW's instructions to the letter should be enough to avoid any possibly mistake, the problem is that some people skip some steps ending up updating their real NAND.

This advice should be enough though: After you have everything set up to update the emuNAND, enter once again to Gateway mode; after being returned to the home menu, enter to system settings and go straight to system update, verifying that the letters of GW3DS appear on the screen.

This should be dummy-proof.

Wont my 3ds start popping up update screens (on the Real NAND) if I connect it to the internet using EmuNAND?

Does gateway 2.0b has firmware/region spoofing? I am just looking to play zelda albw from rom not go into eshop or anything. Just saw a thread where the guy got screwed up with update so I am hesitant to update even with emunand. All I want is to play games that didn't work on gateway 1.2 so can I just load gateway 2.0 and run games normally?

yes you can fella zelda works fine with 2.0 release ;)

I can't give you an accurate answer; just reject any update prompt, it shouldn't be a problem.

However you can try to delete the internet settings on your real NAND; the settings should (or may) still be available on emuNAND and not on the real NAND if doing this in this order.

After updating to 2.0b1 entering Gateway mode is very unstable for me. It is working 50% of the times and if it doesn't work then I have to power off twice before it orks again. When it doesn't work it just freeze with stripes on both screens. I am formatting the emunand on my SD card now to see if that makes it more stable (I read that somewhere).

BOOO YAAA!

So pumped up bros. Flashed back to my nand that the Gateway team gave me from their nand dump tool, back on 4.5 from 6.3.

Now I'm wondering, what happen when I flash 6.X GW3D emu nand to real nand???????? Should I do it bros?

Edit: Hmm looking at the SD card after the Gateway EmuNAND Format, there's no NAND.BIN anymore :<

Edit again: Dumb again... The nand's on the sd but on a separate partition. I'm gonna get it.

lol, for that, you must copy the raw data of the emuNAND partition. There's a thread about this that states that this partition has extra data added by Gateway, and before you attempt to flash their emuNAND partition on your 3DS, you should delete this extra data first... or screw the rules and see what happens.

Hehe I'm going for the latter... If you could point me to that thread I'd be greatful.. My plan now is just to dump the stick to .bin, find the header and copy the same number of bytes down as the official nand. I'm just gonna go for it, I don't think I can do anything I can't fix.

It seems to me more stable now.

I know I'm supposed to reformat the micro SD cards if I want to write a new game to it using Panasonic SD Formatter, but what settings should I use? There is format type (quick, full erase, or full overwrite) and format adjustment size (on or off). I would like to know which one to use/which one is best to use. I'm using a 16gb SanDisk Class 10 MicroSD Ultra btw.

Totally inconsequential how you format it (for now). The formatting is only to make Windows able to assign it a drive letter, which in turn allows win32diskimager to write to the raw device which houses that fat32 partition. In *nix environment you can simply dd the image to the raw device always. The formatting you have to do when transferring roms in Windows is only necessary because Windows is lame :-)

Ok, thanks. I initially tried the format overwrite and it took forever, so I just do the quickformat now and it works fine.

Yes, just quickformat it. Writing the rom image destroys the fat32 filesystem immediately anyway, two seconds later :-P

Can anybody explain to me what you have to do after you created a backup System Nand from your 3ds? what do you do with that SD card? Do you deleted the file that in the 3ds SD card or keep it in there?
