someone on another forum did, she said the log's gone.
logs still there and if u stay at an older date the logs gone but the tiltes played still states you played after log date plus it still counts deleted titles towards the # of games

just need to clarify,, you change date to before you put a cartridge in and the logs are gone....got that,,, now if you put the date back to the present will the log files return or will they still be gone? i dont want to have the wrong date on my 3ds and if the log files come back i know my only option will be to reformat(if bricking starts to happen).

If (no, it won't happen, but theoretically) bricking rumors are true, I'm pretty sure Nintendo would be smart enough not to let you delete the info by formatting the 3DS. You can't roll updates back either, so I'd think the logs are saved in some memory that can't be formatted. No matter what the "Activity log" shows.

formated 3ds. date set to lauch date. no logs, daily logs empty, games played still says I played 30 games but nothing listed xept for activity log,put sf in play 1 min log shows i played 1 min but game log says last play day was may 30(console is still on release day so its reading the future lol) put date to current date anything that was part of the 3ds like ar and stuff did get reset, carts did not they are there in total just not listed but if u go day by day u wont see the game but the graph shows you did play something that day and if u put the game in it fills in all that games playtime so its storing the gameplay with a data name and untill the cart is reinserted u wont see it in logs under its name so it aint using the game name to recognize its using some other bit of code to sort them

well then.. if said is true and if bricking is also true, formatting will erase the log so a retailer would not be able to tell you played a flashcart so, if you are convinced your 3ds is gonna brick, reformat and refund. i personally dont think its gonna brick though, if it did i wont buy new one and i wont be spending more $$ on dlc so its a double loose for ninty as i tend to buy a crap ton more shovel ware than i do pirate/homebrew/backup. having that said i feel better and even more confident there will be no bricking

Didn't you read my post? It's very likely that there's a log that you can't see stored in the memory of the 3DS that you cannot format.
Assuming that Nintendo or retailers want to know what is in your log, of course.

im fairly sure that if gamestop could see if you are using a flashcart someone who works there would have leaked such information when this came out.

I agree. It was just a small rumor for what I've heard anyway, so I'm taking the whole thing with a grain of salt.
However, if this was the case, I'm sure the data wouldn't be just erasable like that.

It's most likely that the rumors have started from the 3DS having the activity log application, but it's pretty certain not Nintendo nor resellers use that to track what you've played.

if you format the log will or will not show an icon of previously played games???????? someone answer with definite answer cause answers before have been not clear on this spesific question.. if there is no icon then gamestop cant tell there was flashcart used.

No it isn't, when you format your console it erases everything, the only thnig that is kept with the console is the sd photos and the updates.

How do you know? It's very possible that other information than the updates are kept hidden in the memory, even after a format of the console. It is true that the icons won't be shown in the activity log application, but it's possible they remain in the memory.

Its nintendo they want the machine to print money, bricking it wont print money, locking you out of e shop wont print money, we know what they will do, they will update to block flash carts, takes less money and it allows them to print more money.

the point of my post asking why and if icon is left after format is.....for the people convinced that an update will bring a brick and if you have used flashcart all you need to do is format and gamestop will NOT know because there will be no icon........dont care if its still hidden in there(great gamestop cant see it),now i can reformat and get a new 3ds and wait to make sure it wont brick before REINSERTING acekard2i

If this really was the case (highly doubtable, but still), they'd probably have a way of checking the logs from the hidden memory.
But as I already said, it's nothing to worry about, it's just a rumor. Someone though the activity log application was a way of Nintendo/resellers tracking what you play and went on ahead telling wild stories about it.

Don't worry people

I doubt any game shop will notice if you inserted a flashcart or not, on the other hand Nintendo probably can, maybe there's a storage in the nand or something that keeps a record.

When I sent off my 3DS for repairs I left an AK2i in there without a microSD though so I can't be done for pirating games, they still fixed it and returned it back. Do they care, not really.... So I don't think the bricking rumor is true and over ds mode?

If gamestop can check it, normal people will find out about it.
