Hacking 3DS booting without boot.firm

I am trying to update my Luma but when I replace the boot.firm it still boots with Luma v7.1. I can't seem to run any payloads either as any button I press is ignored and I am sent to the home menu. Does anyone know how I could either run GodMode9 or figure out how to remove this version of luma?

EDIT: I may have some sort of FIRM0 thing installed but I'm not sure what it is?

Do you know how I can open GodMode9 from CTRNAND at all? I'm not sure I even have GodMode in CTRNAND right now

EDIT: nvm I found out FBI can edit CTRNAND oops
