I'm not convinced you read what I wrote right. I was not talking about disrespect for me, but disrespect for homebrew.

but ok

Well. I'll agree with you on that part. At the same time I'm pretty sure you're didn't read what I wrote right either.

smealum Now that you're here, is it possible that you'll ever continue what you were previously going to do on the 4.5 scene? I'm still just looking forward to a launcher that lets me run the newest firmware without any issues... Honestly, right now I just want to be able to use my 3DS like everyone else. Homebrew I can wait on.

I'm not going to jump to 6.X any time soon, though.

lambstone you should seriously think before posting your crappy comments.
You've only been insulting the only people that know how to make an actual 3DS scene happening with your spoiled kids reactions.
Chill out and enjoy your 3DS as it is for now.

I'm not going to lie, I absolutely cannot wait to develop homebrew for the 3DS, and with 6.3 downward hackable this is extremely exciting for me. Hopefully we can get a proper SDK up and going soon enough so that homebrew can finally commence. :)

another problem with these scenes is that homebrew devs dont like to use leaked official SDK , i dont see why not, it held the ps3 scene back cause certain devs like ones working on n64 emulator refused to use the sony SDK , and used pslight instead, too bad more homebrew devs dont just use leaked SDK, and release their work anon ,wold speed things up alot

Right. And you first post is to call me out? I smell a sock puppet.

No. I have NOT be insulting the devs. I am just critical of the state of the 3DS scene. I do not bend over a barrel just because they are devs BUT neither do I insult them. I just list the pros and cons of the current scene and EVERYONE just fixates on the cons.

Your critical opinion is irrelevant to the scene.

Your critical opinion is irrelevant to the scene.

I beg to differ.

It helps to provide everyone with an idea of the limitations of the currently decided implementation of the 6.x exploit.

Not that I'm against 2 stick figures verbally beating each other to death, but can we please stay on topic before it gets even more derailed? Everyone is sorry, blah blah blah.

In other news: Smea has a stalker :).

There are no cons. An extremely talented individual is going to provide us with a way to develop homebrew on the latest firmware, that's all there is to it. He's not going to change his mind about not allowing people to steal games for free so you might as well stop harassing him about it.

"Well, you just want to pirate games for free and I'm not going to help you with it"

Inb4 some dev commenting.

Nope. I ninja'd you.

There most definitely are cons. I've listed them previously, gave examples of such limitations. If you read what I wrote instead of basing it on other people's comments, you'll no doubt realise I didn't harass him. Since you obviously didn't read and/or comprehend what I meant. This conversation is hereby meaningless.

To recap. Smealum revealed the existence of a 6.x exploit. He creates a tool SSSpwn which makes use of the 6.x exploit. The ingenuity of SSSpwn is that it might be ported over to 7.x or 8.x due to magic sauce. What does the SSSPwn do? It allows a way to run homebrewed apps/games. However, SSSPwn does not have kernel access hence its "piracy safe" and can be released with minimal legal ramifications. Why is it not yet released? Smealum is keeping his ace in the hole so that Nintendo can't patch it out yet.

Now here's the kicker. SSSpwn is a severely limited hack. Sure enabling homebrew is no small feat but it's way more limited that what could have been possible. With introduction of homebrew for everyone, there now exist the possibility for great homebrew apps and games. However, the possibility is in no way indicative of the probability. SSSpwn does not have kernel access hence a lot of the lower level stuff like changing background, region free, remove video playback etc etc WILL NOT HAPPEN. (Oh, fuck the argument about piracy for free. Nobody gives a damn about this counter point. It's overused and rather pointless at this time. Come up with better points).

So yeah, read my few posts up and there's more details. I refuse to repeat myself over and over again just because some people just whip out their pitchforks when they dislike the truth.

You're barking up the wrong tree then, it's not smealum's fault his exploit doesn't have kernel access. Blame Nintendo for patching it after 4.5.

Once again. Nobody blaming anyone for anything.

It's just an objective statement about the limitations of SSSpwn.

FFS, whatever happened to objectivity?

As I told you the other day, if you toned down your language people might agree with you more. I have no ideia if/what you replied, both our posts were erased.

Not being able to run "muh backups!" and otherwise having full access to hardware, both ARM9 and ARM11 = "Limited Hack"

lambstone, you should seriously tone it down. I really don't understand why people keep pestering smealum for no real reason. He's a fantastic homebrew developer and he's working hard to bring 3DS Mode homebrew to all of us, with or without flash carts and at the same time make development much simpler and straight-forward and what does he get in return? Criticism.

The guy deserves a medal for sticking up with all this controversy, he should be met with nothing but praise and admiration for his exceptionally groundbreaking work on the system. He's doing all this for you guys, stop being so hard on him all the time.

It's funny how lambstone is right about people not getting his point. The beginning of that one last post confirms it... sadly..

Yes, sadly I don't see the benefit of kernel access in an exploit for anything other than piracy. Maybe SSSpwn will natively disable the region check and then enter userland? Maybe it will disable plenty of checks that users find annoying? Maybe userland will be reserved specifically for homebrew applications and anything else will run perfectly fine? You don't know that because you don't have SSSPwn or any access to it, but you choose to criticize someone's hard work, work which is dedicated to nothing other than your benefit.

C'mon, people. Don'd diss and don't dismiss before you actually get to try the final product. I'm sure that the homebrew community despises region locks just as much as you guys do and as long as the software will be legitimate... well... where there's a will, there's a way. Just be patient, give the man some time and some space.

You have got to be kidding me.

Nobody is pestering smealum. Nobody is criticising his work. Nobody is complaining about not having a free rom loading solution. In fact the rom backup playback topic is brought up by people who are completely missing my point!!!

All I ever said was to objectively mention the limitations of SSSPwn. Odin's beard! It's it that hard to not misconstrue my statements?
