If you want to overclock your card, then click the key icon on the upper left of that catalyst screen. After that, the entries will no longer be grayed out, and you can tweak the speed settings.

Though I don't know about anyone else's experience, but that auto tune option feels like it takes about 20-30 mins on my 4870x2.

You should use MSI Afterburner to overclock your 5770 and also set up a fan profile with it aswell. This is my fan profile works well.

Wouldn't use autotune from the overdrive section. Tends to clock out early for me. E.g it stops my 4670 at 800/1050. But i've got it at 835/1130 stable after an hour of furmark and a continuously running f@h

Yeah catalyst is kinda flunky that way.

What people tend todo with catalyst overdrive is set clockspeed per item once max is reached go reset it then choose the other item to overclock and max it out.

once you know each highest setting without having both settings (gpu and memory) maxed out. You can see where the sweetspot lies.

Well, I'm in the process of getting my system stable at a 3.2GHz overclock, and I think I've succeeded. Once thats confirmed to be stable, I'll try doing so with the msi afterburner
