Hi

I need some help regarding my fat ps2 model 39001

All the games with 3d graphics are now showing major graphical glitches. The more the 3d in a game, the more the graphical glitches

The 2d games and even the menus in 3d games (in the example GTA San Andreas all work fine)

Both disc games and games from hard drive (OPL) show the same result

Also the console still has the seal and has never been repaired.

Pictures link are below

What could be the issue? and how can it be solved?

Thanks in advance.

Probably needs a cleanup and a reflow , it's a 39001, it can't live forever. Does the fan still spin in the back ?

The GPU oe BIOS could have a cracked solder joint on one of its legs. You'll need to open it up to remelt/reflow the solder.

yeah what everyone else has said, a hlaf decent heatgun some flux on the main chips and do a reflow. i have one that was worse than this that i got for $5 off a buddy, it had a split screen effect along with the tearing. I took it apart cleaned it up good of dust and debris and then the heat gun and flux did the rest, still works to this day and i fixed it back around 2009ish.

Did you fix your ps2 yet? My ps2 has the same problem I might want it to fix it, too. And if you did what are the things you did to fix it?
