2nd PS3 ODDE confirmed

The Cobra team (known from their downgrade dongle thingy) has announced to make an ODDE for the PS3.
They claim that you don't need your PS3 on a CFW or old firmware.
They also said that this will be the most advanced PS3 ODDE there is.


Personally I think this is a perfect copy of the 3Key, but yeh.
Companies are mass copying other companies their hardware so this was inevitable.
I hope that the Cobra ODDE won't be as the other ODDE's for the 360 who are pretty dead.

On a serious note, an ODDE on OFW could be something worth investing in. Especially if there is no need for CFW to install the package.

Yes.
I don't know how the cobra team is going to do this but it's interesting indeed.

The "mass-copying" you mentioned is because it's unlikely a device of this sort, with its grey legal status, could be patented. Thus, anyone could make an ODDE for PS3 and no one can really question it.

Though I think Cobra team could've made an ODDE long ago, it's just no one realized that the market wants a hardware solution more than a CFW. (I'm a CFW kind of guy, but still.)

now it's about helping the ones who cannot get a cfw. why not just make a blu-ray emu on your hdd. that's the plan here.
