12xx not updating

So I’m planning to buy a ps4 fat 12xx which has like 4.xx update but it’s stuck on the black update screen and won’t accept any updates .. the current owner of the ps4 says that he changed the hdd but the problem still exists now what could be the possible reasons for this issue ?
As far as I know there’s no daughter board issue in the 12xx so even if the bd drive is changed it should accept updates

What is the error? If you swap hdd, you need the recovery menu update or else it won't find anything.
