"Last week PlayStation 4 developer qwertyoruiopz made available a JailbreakMe PS4 4.0x Webkit exploit for OFW 3.55 through 4.07, and over this weekend he received an invite from the Rebug Team while sharing progress updates leading to confirmation of a 0day 4.50 kernel exploit obtaining R/W (Read / Write) access!

4.50 users will probably have to upgrade to another firmware later on as a userland exploit is found on that firmware.
Realistically, I doubt 4.50 will have an exploit any time soon.

4.0X and below, I see a more realistic chance of them having a public exploit.

and the question is: how do we prevent updates?
I want to still use youtube/plex and so on... but how to bypass the update that seems to be mandatory for any online usage?!

I'd take anything that this site says with a grain of salt. They are known to spew a lot of BS just to get ad revenue from traffic. psx-place, wololo, and se7ensins alike have expressed numerous concerns about psxhax. It would be best to stick with those sources as they are trusted and have proven themselves time and time again.

In case anyone doesn't believe me. Check these out

That's your take from my reply? Nothing negative was said. I only stated facts and have included sources to backup my claims.

I apologize that I want the community to know as much information as possible so that they can know were to find correct sources of information and always be in the know

Turn Wifi off ? Unless you want to be online then there is nothing you can do about it. I turn wifi off because I do not care about the online.

I'd just get a cheap Android device for those.
