It was fixed in cIOS Rev8, if I recall. Install Rev10 and that should do the trick.

also. is there a way to run the backups off the disc channel on 4.0 yet?

yes with preloader, cioscorp, preloader.

don't even need preloader to do it. and the fix is based in the CIOSCorp it's self. it should eliminate the 002 error on it's own. as for 001 if you are getting that you have the wrong CIOS's installed. 35 and 37 are 2 good examples. the originals work but the v 2 always return an 001 error.
