    must be the drive i'm using. found a 1gig usb drive and loader picked it up and wanted to format it. powered down the wii and switched back to the HDD and got the error again. tried it on both an unpartitioned drive and one in FAT32(same as the usb drive).

    shite, all i have available is an old external enclosure and i think it's only usb 1.0. the loader just gives an error saying it is unable to read the drive. looks like i'll be going shopping tomorrow.

    the only way to improve on 3x would be to hack the dvd drive's firmware.

    I initially only had cioscorp and preloader installed and when I upgraded to softmii 1.0 I started at step one of the tut and had no problem. I'm sure you'll just be overwriting everything that's already installed anyway but you may want to wait for someone else to confirm this.

    no "fezzes" for me at that point. Same release using Memorex DVD-R burnt at 16x, same as all my backups, and have never had a problem with them. Burning at the lowest speed does not create a better burn. This was the case years ago when the first cd burners came out but is not an issue...

    The dvd drive firmware will need to be modified in order to allow this. I don't know if anyone is currently working on this.

    this just popped into my head but ninty may have given us some free brick protection for future updates. I mean, if you accidently install 3.4 or higher they overwrite the sysmenu and add ios50 to run it off of so having a modified cios30 shouldn't really be an issue should it?

    I'm probably wrong here but, if your installing using the cios wads, isn't the only full brick risk during the cios30.wad installation? Edit: I'm only talking about the installation process here, not the future update risks.

Has anyone checked to see that the rest of starfall features are working? Most notably, the rescue-menu. Edit: i don't \have a GC controller to try....

    lol, i think i'm one of the very few that actually dumped their NAND before attempting this. It should be a prerequisite, if you can't figure out how to dump it then you should just stick with softchip or gamma.

    by chance have you tried booting into maintenance mode? as far as I know you should still have access to channels in it.

    I was able to install CIOS30 wad over IOS30.

    This is the method I used to install and it worked no probs. I beleive you also need to install cIOS36rev7 if you don't already have it.
