Hacking My CycloDS arrived with an 'odd' card reader...

I just got a brand new CycloDS from Consoleup and it has one of these card adapters. I suspect that they are supplied with the most recent batches. Seems to work just fine for me. Z.

Hacking DSTT and SanDisk 8GB SDHC

Sandisk 8GB SDHC worked fine for me in my "Version 1" design DSTT. Regards, Z.

Hacking How to tell if your DX DSTT is a FAKE.

Actually, you can tell if yours is fake without opening the case. Look down into the SD slot and see if you can see either the two big holes in the SD holder case or the two long prongs. If you can, it's a fake. If you can see the row of tiny slots at the bottom of the holder, then it *may* be a...

Hacking After Bios swap no wifi/wireless

Why don't you make a dump of the working BIOS and put that into the bad BIOS chip? Regards, Z.

Hacking some pics of the last original TT batch with simple package

When DSTT team have THESE pictures on THEIR web site, I will believe that they are not fake. Until then, I think that they are. Can you prove this is real? Regards, Z.

Hacking The New DS wil be at the 2008 "E for All Expo" Oct 3rd - Oct

Whatever happens, I suspect it will be impossible to run things like the R4/DSTT and similar on it. It's an ideal opportunity for the makers to lock it down really tightly, given the attempt at suppressing flash carts recently. Regards, Z.

Hacking some pics of the last original TT batch with simple package

Photo 1 and Photo 2 look like fakes to me. Sorry.... Regards, Z.

Hacking Is there an upper file count limit?

You know, I thought there was, but I am not so sure now. It may have been a "funny" on my SDHC 8GB card. Of course, I may also have run "drivesort" on the card since I made that observation. That could well have reordered the folder entries into a more compacted and therefore more efficient...

    Hacking R4DS NEW KERNAL 1.19

Dear Sir, It is my honest belief that you are lying through your teeth. 1) The software on your web site is obviously not based on the Original R4 teams source code. It is therefore reasonable to assume that you have no access to it, and are therefore not in any way related to the Original R4...

    Hacking R4DS v1.19 kernel Released

The software is a cobbled together combination of Acekard RPG firmware/loader, probably compiled from modified source code, and the YSMenu/DSTT combination. There is, as far as I can see, NO evidence that this has been made from any original R4 software. Therefore, it is not from the original R4...

    Hacking R4DS NEW KERNAL 1.19

Amazing... This is a bastardized combination of Acekard, DSTT and YSMenu firmware/loaders. You can see bits of each when you start to dig deep. NO WAY would I trust this on my precious R4. And YES, I think Yasu is gonna be mighty pissed at this., along with the Acekard and DSTT teams. Z

    Hacking R4DS NEW KERNAL 1.19

This is not simply YSMenu.. There is more to this than meets the eye.. I have my suspicions but I will dig a lot deeper at the hex level. Watch this space. Please don't close this thread until I have had a chance to report my findings. Z

Hacking duplicate roms tittled "Di3.nds, Di4.nds" etc.

The reason for this is that most operating systems cache the filesystem metadata when operating on a mounted filesystem on a removable device. Just because the OS says that file operation has completed, it doesn't mean that it has actually committed those changes back to the hardware device...

    Hacking R4DS NEW KERNAL 1.19

This is NOT, I repeat NOT and just to make sure everybody understands, NOT true!!! The Original R4 from the REAL R4 manufacturers can have a chip number that is 0817# or below. It is NOT TRUE that only 0815# is original. Z

    Hacking New YSmenu 2008/09/13

I'll tell you why... TTMENU cannot handle more than so many files, and on an 8GB SDHC it's very easy to beat that limit, so some roms dont show up in the TT menu. YSMenu either has no limit or a much bigger limit. All roms show up. Regards, Z.

Hacking A happy R4 user should get one??

If all the games / homebrew you want to use run perfectly, then ignore him! If they don't, get a DSTT as well. Use each for their allotted purpose and ignore any "my cart is better than your cart" crap. Regards, Z.

Hacking What the 1.19 firmware will be like IF it gets released

Reality Check Alert! Ok, lets take a look at a few facts here... The new "R4 Team" is making a HUGE thing about this mystical "0815# Model number" and how anything that is not an "0815#" is a fake. The original posting by the R4 team when saying how to detect a fake said that "0817#" was...

    Hacking R4 Commander V2.0

Ok, some results from Beta2 Looking at the details from a homebrew NDS file gives very strange results, both in the trimmed section and sometimes the game name fields. Even with ROMs, the maths seems to have broken when calculating the saved space field. ROMs 2074 and 2075 have their names...

    Hacking R4 Commander V2.0

At the moment the 2.17 auto updater is not working. I just traced the connection and it's getting a 404 - Not Found when trying the 2.18 zip file. Probably easily fixable. Regards, Z.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
