Last year i bought myself a nice motion + Wii remote from Aliexpress, it's been a great little remote. Only today I decided to transfer my Mii over to the remote, so i cant use my remote on my partners unmodded Wii.

Only when i tried it, it comes up telling me not to disconnect anything and then just does nothing, it doesn't freeze or lock up. But it just doesn't move past the screen. The only way to get out of it, is to reset the console. After which, I noticed my Wii remote seems to be locked up, I have to pop out the batteries to get it functioning again.

I've tried using an 'official' remote and I had no issues transferring at all, but the one from Aliexpress just locks up.

If anyone can give some advice on this, I'd be really grateful. My current theory is that with the Wii remote being unofficial, the manufacturer has cut corners. Leaving out the part needed for Mii storage and transference.

You might be right. Official Wii Remotes have an EEPROM chip, and part of it is for storing Miis. Your third party Wii Remote could have a chip that only stores the code needed for the remote's built-in microcontroller (For Nunchucks, Classic Controllers, and storing firmware updates). That part of the chip is primordial, compared to storing Miis, which is why this functionality isn't included, but I might be wrong on that part.

It's strange, as it has the motion+ functions. Surely if they are going to that effort, could fit the EEPROM. I've had the remote a couple of years now, it's only now I've come to transfer my MII. Luckily i still have an original Wii remote, thinking I might buy myself an official red remote and replace this knock off red one.
