oof, jokes aside i'm looking more into gameplay.
don't you just love it when you boot your computer to see your ram usage as 99% even though you launched nothing yet

Yeah. Upon booting up my laptop, I'm only using about 500MB of memory, give or take. After a few hours, though, it goes up to around 4GB of memory, possibly even more.
hey guys what can you play on a really bad laptop (that is the one i use), like really bad, like you WILL overestimate the power of mine.

I don't think I can even run Serious Sam 1 at 30 frames. Though I'll try some options you guys said, thanks! (Also thanks for giving me 11 notifications. lol)

Also, the first two Hitman games.

The second Hitman is actually heavier than Serious Sam II, so if he can't run that he can't run Silent Assassin... The first Hitman runs on even my Win 3.1 PC so doubt he'll have trouble though:P
hey guys if i download something on my switch, can i pause the download and not have to download it all again? idk if i should get paladins.
when you realize the ultra hax project omnibreak can now actually run on the switch so you start having an existential crisis.

Holy crap! After a bad morning I check my email and see Lexaloffle replied to me and gave me Pico-8 for free! (I asked if I could get it.)

(btw don't ask for pico-8 for free at least not now or something, i don't want the dude to get 50 emails saying if they could have it for free._

How did you convince them to do that?
    Jacklack3
    Jacklack3
Well I said it was my summer break and I wanted to be productive, I said a little bit about my programming history, then asked if there was any way I could get it for free. I also said like 2 times if they don't want to it's totally fine. I didn't really convince them rather just tell them a bit about myself and ask nicely if I could get a free copy.

Fun little factoid, I made a draft of a blog post trying to figure out where who drew my avatar but then I got bored. It's a challenge.
I only played a little of Earthbound but damn is the "A Bad Dream" theme really good.

You should reach the final boss for a really weird boss music, also try Mother 1 and 3 too since those have better music and even story than Mother 2 (EarthBound):P

I've stumbled across the final boss music on yt before and jesus it's actually scary, like if someone set an alarm in the middle of the night with this as the music i'd be a little bit scared. Also thanks for the tip.

My summer far: 10% Watching vids, 20% working on projects, 5% doing my summer todo list and 65% playing Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley is the best Harvest Moon game for many years. And that includes official Harvest Moon and/or Story of Season games.

I haven't really played much of a Harvest Moon game, although I've tried. I just get too bored cause it feels like it's too focused on farming, while it's possible to barely farm in Stardew Valley.
Hey guys I wanna make a simple game, what's a good game engine for someone who's never made a graphical game before?

@SomeGamer I actually used to make games in PowerPoint when I was little. lol

Well I don't want to buy or pirate anything. Which is why i'm asking. Also when I did use Game Maker before I would just use templates are not really code the core stuff.

I'd recommend Unity. Once you know what you're doing, it's really easy to get the engine to do what you want.

Keep in mind, though, it's a 3D Engine first and foremost, Making 2D Games in it will seem a bit weird at first, considering that Unity uses more 3D-oriented concepts in a 2D Space.

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Don some VR glasses and gloves and talk to the computer and paint entire worlds

"OK Cortana I want that mountain a little taller and more snow on top, and I would like some random ancient pine forest around the bottom"
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
"Now we need a spring fed river flowing down the north side and add some wild life appropriate for the biome"
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
