    Windows, why do you feel like you need to lie to me about when install was installed. It's trying to tell me it was like 3 weeks ago ... but my backup records show its more like 3 years ago :/

    Reminds me of how Windows 8 would lie about your PC being up to date when you manually check for updates. Like, you just reinstalled your entire OS sand now you want all the updates which you clearly remember existing. Nope it lies to you until it feels like actually checking for updates and installs them when you're not looking.

    Of course when I had a PC, I'd prefer to have backups of installers for all my programs, and updates are no exception. This was even before ISPs had bandwidth caps. Now, 1 TB a month? Reinstalling your PS3 library alone burns that.

    Got a call out today. PC repair. I asked them to bring it over. Nope too heavy ... Okay i get to charge a call out fee :) got there ... Mineral Oil PC ... nope.exe refunded the call out and left

    Oil-cooled PCs don't have any benefits in terms of cooling and performance-wise, hence they're not as good as people said they were. It's almost as laughable as the folks who buy "audiophile" range type of audio equipment to *enhance* their listening experience, it's all red herrings.

    @SylverReZ and @Kioku , you are both preaching to the choir. If this guy had told me what it was, I would have probably blocked out a 3 or 4-days period if he could drop it off. Even then, the price for my time, space, IPA, and Paper towels would have been astronomical

    What no one ever tells you about coming off opioids is the explosive diarrhoea. Man, I've destroyed that toilet this week, and that's WITH medication to calm it down :/

    Sorry hear that, the opioids are poison and some bodies are more sensitive to them, my personally react to them by vomiting and had to switch to another type of pain medication.

    My mum is very sensitive to opioids, me not so much haha. Interestingly, I have a weird reaction to stronger opioids ... they make me hyper, which isn't seen in humans all too often

    Well yeah, it's a very fine line and very few writers manage to hit it. Even shows that start out as serialized stories from the get-go tend to go to crap as time goes on.

    You don't need to tell me that being creative is difficult, haha, I've had a novel on the back burner for the last 7 or so years, and I'm 90% done on the first draft. I'm at a point where I know where I am and I know where I'm going, but bridging that gap :/

    I was once "reported" for using CMD at work. it went all the way to HR. :/ I did the only thing I could do. I resigned on the spot ( I had been there a week) after "explaining my self "

    HR? For what? That's an IT issue. My worst recent: Employee kiosk was locked down so much that you couldn't save a document. But uses Chrome for paystub access, etc. Devtools weren't blocked. So I had it speak (with the SpeechSynthesis API) "Baked potato" every 10 minutes. People thought it was the vending machine.

    I was "hacking" and " opening the company up to outside attacks" ... I was running ping to Google DNS to track internet drops I was having, so I could report it to IT :/

    I swear this machine is out to fuck with me. Just started to do a little disk clean up and couldn't delete anything from my emulation drive. Turned out the whole drive had become write-protected :/ Seriously thought the drive was bad ... but started doing the usual diagnostics

    Step 1 has never worked in 35 years of my PC life, but I do it every time because it's step one :

    List disk
    Select disk 1
    Attributes disk clear readonly

    And it cleared the read-only :/ I swear to you, it's the only time this has ever worked.

    Oh, that HDD is just in a drive sled on top of Rommie. I was transferring its data to its new home last night, and it started complaining about getting too hot (50°C /122°F) and knowing it was gonna take 12 hours or so, sooo I did what the British do best and bodged it haha. She's not quite ready for the scrap heap yet, tho and will live on in other projects haha

    The USB fan next to it is just one I have around and the external PC fan I had laying around and I nicked the driver from the GPCS v3 ( Guinea Pig Cooling System) since they don't need it at the moment haha
