That first image, you might want to reflow those pads.

Planning on keeping the Pico in there in case I ever need to reflash for some reason, so I hot glued it in place. This hot glue is pretty easy to get off though.

Unless the hot glue was epoxy then that is a problem.

@SylverReZ The pads didn't seem to want to take much solder, I think the solder was just getting sucked down underneath. They seem to be firmly attached though.

Hmm, it doesn't seem to be playing the boot animations I put on. It plays the stock boot animation, screen goes red (which shows fakeanim is running) then goes black for a couple seconds, then the dashboard starts up.

In the end, I set the temp targets to 65C (didn't touch fan speed). From what I've read, that is a safe maximum. Haven't seen them go above that while playing (only GPU hits that, CPU and memory stay well below), whereas they were definitely much higher with default settings.

Tried 60C at first (as I've seen some recommend), but the fan was very noisy, and that is in a cool indoor temperature, it would be pegged at 100% speed in the summer. Running the fan at max all the time isn't good for the fan either. With 65C, the noise is manageable, but it will ramp up in the summer.

it's a 12v fan, they're designed to run at 12v, running them at "max speed" won't decrease fan life.
Yeh they do get noisy but I'd prefer noise over heat.
Did you snip away the fan mesh in the chassis? it obstructs airflow quite a bit.

Running any fan at 100% speed all the time will decrease its life. They're moving parts, they wear out. Default fan curves on a GPU won't even hit 100%, ever, and I've heard of people killing their GPU fans prematurely by running the fans at 100%.
