  • @KleinesSinchen as I think you might be interested in this, I GOT THE IQUE FIRMWARE ON A NON-IQUE UNIT! Afaik I'm the first person to have done it so I am buzzing with excitement. It's normally impossible because the non-iQue firmware flash chip isn't big enough to hold iQue firmware. I managed to replace the chip for a bigger capacity one and make it work.
This week's dev app is... WiFi Icon! This was just used to test a flag that shows a little icon on the home screen for WiFi enabled games. When run, the app displays 2 blue screens. (checked the source code and confirmed it was meant to do nothing more)

A borked update has removed my desktop and broken a ton of stuff. I tried installing my desktop back but that failed. I'll try starting fresh with a different distro, but until that finishes I'm stuck with a void.

A friend of mine just ordered 70 DS lite wifi boards... it was only $24 USD for all of them, but what are you going to do with 70!?. If that order goes through I might try to grab a few from him.

Or reflash the bad wifi boards. I want them just to play around with. Could be cool to have an individual card for each proto firmware, and some people and I were talking about possibly getting ique firmware on the wifi board.

The ique firmware is 512kb as apposed to the normal DS firmware which is 256kb. The wifi boards use the same save chip as is found in all cartridges with 256kb saves (afaik). Maybe it'd be possible to swap out the 256kb chip on the wifi board with a 512kb chip from a game and have ique firmware run on non-ique hardware.

I'm not sure if I could find real ique wifi cards for sale, so this is the next best thing.

A good price. But... 70 of them... that is more than enough. He could try to sell a few individually and make profit.
New week, new dev app! This right here is TWL EC file utility. It was intended for developers who had trouble connecting to the DSi Shop. It can view ec.cfg, delete ec.cfg, shop.log and dev.kp, and delete itself. It was released only to a certain few developers and they were told that they must not share it, and that they must delete it after use.

I made this after the many different misspellings of "unlaunch" were brought up. Some of these make no sense to me.
:ohnoes: In just a few days I'm going to have the first exam in my life. I'm one of the very few people in my grade level that took a special program last year which didn't have exams. Everyone else is prepared and I don't know what to do.

How long is it? I have done many in my life but once did a three hour one having been away from exams for 3 years or so by that point... my poor hand after that was worse than any gaming, tool use, climbing, fall/break and time in plaster, go on the human gyroscope... I have ever done.

Thankfully only two hours. Though I assume those two hours are either going to feel more like half and hour or like a whole day.

Both at the same time is always a fun one. "Where did the time go I still have more to write" combines with "it feels like I have been in here forever" all too easily.

I love visiting the EOF after months of ignoring it. None of the threads make sense as I'm missing context from before, and it feels dumber than ever.

Or maybe it was always like that. Hm...
This week's pfp is NAND Sound Player. It's a great DSi dev app that lets you play music from an sdat file.
Watching the bars for each of the voices is very nice.

Glad to hear. I'm working on a site for documenting all of the dev apps, so it's nice to hear that. Nothing too much, just enough information to get these things known.

It may take a while before I release it though as I've kinda got a lot of stuff to list lmao.

$170 CAD for a single fucking DSi on amazon.
These prices are out of hand.

As most used consoles and games by professional sellers, potentially forced to provide some warranty.
Since the pandemic the prices sharply increased again. Try finding the PAL version of Castlevania – Symphony of the Night. An old CD, more than a quarter of a century old, and the try to sell them for >200 Euros without manual/packaging but with a lot of scratches.

The only reaction to that is: "No, I won't buy the overpriced stuff."
I'm missing some games/pieces in the collection, like the mentioned PS1 game. But… no. No way I'm supporting such people. The few missing things will stay missing.

Got most of my stuff the moment when it was considered "old, outdated junk" and before this changed to "cool retro"

Tomorrow I'm gonna see the doctor. For the past few years I've found it hard to focus on anything, and it has been getting progressively worse. I like to describe it as a blender. Stick some items in an shut off blender and you can focus on each individual thing. Turn the blender on, and you can't focus on any item. Everything just spins and swirls by.

The blender is my brain and the contents are my thoughts.

The blender is an excellent image of a brain crowded with swirling thoughts. It is a problem that concerns many people: we need to learn to give attention to a few things, but completely, and avoid raising a monkey-mind that constantly jumps from one thought to another, creating instability, confusion and lack of balance, even physical. Solution: meditation, relaxation, not medicine.

Meditation and relaxation may work for some, but I find it doesn't really do anything for me. And I feel that this is beyond simple meditation. Oh well, the doctor is in half an hour so I guess we'll see then.

Of course, a doctor will never recommend these. I bet he will prescribe you a benzodiazepine or similar. In this emergency situation it may help you, but try not to depend on meds, lad, if possible.

Right after you log in to a school chromebook, google sticks all its play store crap onto your computer. Normally not a problem, but on school computers with school internet, you've got to wait multiple minutes for it to download. In that time it hogs up all the internet.

But here's the kicker: after all the waiting you get a nice popup saying "the play store is disabled".
    rvtr

Why on earth do you waste all this time downloading a program when you're not even gonna let me run it? Here's an idea... check if it's disabled before you download, and don't download if it's disabled.

It's a complete waste of time.

For me it is more than just a waste of time.
A computer running Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Chrome or any of that Google crap this isn't trustworthy.
At least I wouldn't use a thing like that, even if somebody would offer paying me for doing so.

The vast majority of school computers are chromebooks, so I sadly don't have a choice. I could bring my own computer but I don't trust other people and tbh my laptop is weaker than a chromebook lmao
New profile picture. I will give you nothing if you can guess what it is.
    (hint, it's a DSi program)

I said it in the first message. You knew there was nothing.
Woohoo! I might be getting 2 broken Wiis tomorrow! $50 for both, and their only issues seem to be bad disk drives.

I can't wait to fix 'em up.

Have prices for such things shot up that much in the last year or so? Was turning them down working with multiple controllers and shovelware stacks not so long ago.

Wiis go for $100+ here. The broken ones just had bad disk drives so the price is a bit more understandable. I've managed to fix both of the drives and I'll probably sell one of the Wiis back for $50.

I hate the high prices and don't want to contribute to them.
